Currently there is no test to detect Ovarian Cancer. It is important to educate women and their families on the symptoms of ovarian cancer.
My grandmother was diagnosed and fought ovarian cancer for 4 years before passing away in December of my senior year of high school.
It is an important cause to me to raise awareness about ovarian cancer and to fund cancer research so that women don't have to find out until it is too late. In an effort to support such research on Sunday my boyfriend, friends, and I participated in a 5k for ovarian cancer awareness month. Each National Ovarian Cancer Coalition (NOCC) chapter puts together a run/walk every year to raise money and awareness of ovarian cancer. They do a wonderful job of putting together this event and the amount of participants was overwhelming. My hope is that one day there will be a test to detect ovarian cancer in the early stages.
A big thank you to the wonderful people shown in this photo for spending the day with me and running for Linda. I know she was smiling down on all of us that day.
A prayer for Linda:
Father of all,
we pray for those whom we love, but see no longer.
grant them your peace;
let light perpetual shine upon them;
and in your loving wisdom and almighty power
work in them the good purpose of your perfect will;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
we pray for those whom we love, but see no longer.
grant them your peace;
let light perpetual shine upon them;
and in your loving wisdom and almighty power
work in them the good purpose of your perfect will;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen
